Theme: Aircraft and Training Support Developments,

Part 23, LSA, and Support Products Panels

Panel 1: What’s new in Part 23 training aircraft? Panelists will provide PowerPoint material ahead of time and will each have 20 minutes on what is new about their aircraft with emphasis on the university training and education mission. Of particular interest: operating cost, OEM support, alliances with FTD providers to provide a “training system”. The panel moderator will load PowerPoint presentations onto a master file. PowerPoint presentations will be part of NTAS 2008 Proceedings. Panelists whose companies manufacture VLJ and PLJ airplanes may address the training and business case for incorporating a VLJ or PLJ into a collegiate fleet, discussing how use of the aircraft can serve both student and institution needs. PLJ manufacturers may address transfer of training to a multi engine transport aircraft and completing engine inoperative syllabus maneuvers with a single engine jet. The panel moderator will manage the PowerPoint, the time and Q&A.

Each panel will contain diverse representation from education and training institutions, considering:

 

Workshop Panel processes Managing a Successful Collegiate Flight Department:

Each panelist will be asked to provide an introduction and brief (about 5 minutes) verbal description of their program. If the panelist desires, a brief PowerPoint may be used to illustrate graphical concepts; such presentations to be provided in advance to the moderator for collation into a master file. A discussion session among panelists and from the floor will follow, with the moderator serving as timekeeper and discussion manager. A set of notes on issues and responses in the discussion sessions will be recorded and provided in the Workshop Proceedings, as will any presentations used by panelists.
